Android 14 update; List of all eligible phones

In February 2023, Google officially released the first developer preview of Android 14, and now the 5.2 beta version is available. It will still be a few weeks before the stable version arrives. Anyway, before the release of Android 14, the question has probably formed in your mind, which phones will receive Android 14?

Many manufacturers improved their update policy during 2022 and it is expected to improve in the future with the release of Android 14. When it comes to flagship devices, the biggest brands are now standardizing on at least three Android updates; But unfortunately, not all of them have extended the revised policies to older models.

What new changes does Android 14 bring to Armaghan?

In 2021, Android 12 was released with significant innovation; But in 2022, Android 13 was not accompanied by special changes. In 2023, Android 14 looks like another repeat year; Because at least according to the current reports, apparently there will not be any major changes in it.

However, it will bring new changes. It is said that in Android 14 you can better control the font size and the battery life of your device will be longer. More privacy and security features, including banning the installation of very old applications, will be among other changes in Android 14.

We are still far from the official release of Android 14; Therefore, there may be other changes in this operating system that we are not aware of.

Google

Since Google owns Android, it’s no surprise that most of its phones will receive Android 14. Some Google phones are outdated; But the 2020 and later models will receive the latest version of the operating system. Thus, as soon as Google releases Android 14 in the third quarter of 2023, the following phones will be ready to receive.

Google’s latest phones, the Pixel 7a and Pixel Fold, are also fully expected to receive Android 14. However, Google has not yet officially added these phones to the update list; Therefore, we cannot say with certainty when this will happen.

As per Google’s update policy, Google Pixel devices will receive 3 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates.

Samsung

Undoubtedly, Samsung is the best company in terms of providing software support. The company promises four Android updates for most of its phones, and even its mid-range phones get three. Due to the wide variety of Samsung phones and the large number of phones that will receive Android 14, the list below is not complete. Here are the more important Samsung phones that will receive Android 14:

Samsung works faster and faster in Android update every time. In 2022, the Korean tech giant updated all eligible flagships to Android 13 before the end of 2022. It is expected that the same process will be repeated in 2023.

In other words, if you have a Galaxy S or Galaxy Z phone on the list above, you’ll likely get Android 14 before the end of 2023. Note that the release of the Android 14 update for some of the Galaxy A phones on the list may be postponed to 2024.

Motorola

Lenovo makes smartphones and owns Motorola; But the only device for which Android 14 has been confirmed so far is the Lenovo Tab Extreme . The newest flagships of Motorola phones should receive the beta version of Android 14 soon; Although we do not know the exact time. Not surprisingly, we’ll see it first on the Motorola Edge Plus (2023). Also, maybe the Motorola Razr (2023) and Razer Plus (2023) will get the beta version. Anyway, we’ll have to wait and see what Motorola’s plan is.

OnePlus has promised 3 Android updates for most of its flagship phones. The latest OnePlus phone , the OnePlus 11, will even receive 4 Android updates. Accordingly, we expect the following devices to receive Android 14:

Currently, OnePlus 11 has access to the beta version of Android 14; But there are many known issues that installing it may break the phone. If you have a OnePlus flagship device like the 8T, 9/9 Pro, and 10 Pro/10T, you’ll see Android 14 faster than other OnePlus devices. Also, the newer your phone is, the faster you’ll see the upgrade. Users of older devices may also get Android 14 in 2024.

Oppo

Oppo Find X6 Pro is charging

Oppo has the distinction of offering Android 14 beta for a foldable phone and is the only company on this list to do so. It is interesting to know that the Find N2 Flip is the only Oppo phone for which Oppo is currently offering beta access. Meanwhile, the latest Find X6 Pro phone still does not have access to it.

Of course, the latest Oppo flagships will eventually get access to the beta version. Like OnePlus, it is expected that the latest flagships of Oppo will receive Android 14 first, and then the older flagships will benefit from it.

Mid-range and budget phones may or may not receive Android 14, let alone beta access. Based on the brand’s past performance, we expect the following phones to receive the Android 14 update:

Realme

With the Realme 9 and GT2 series, the Chinese brand improved its update policy for its mid-range and flagship models. Realme phones receive at least 2 Android OS updates and 3 years of security patches.

Sony

Sony’s Android support is not great. The company promises only 2 Android updates even for its expensive flagships. Thus, the list of Sony phones likely to receive Android 14 is very short.

Of course, the Xperia 5 V and possibly the 10 V are expected to launch in 2023. Although we don’t know the release date, these phones will also receive Android 14. According to the timeline, 2023 Xperia phones will be the first to receive Android 14.

We expect them to start receiving betas by the end of 2023 and then a stable release in early 2024. Sony might surprise its users and release a stable version before the end of the year; But this cannot be said for sure. The following phones are expected to be updated to Android 14
