Although xAI began its activities about seven months ago, Elon Musk intends to introduce its first AI model on Saturday, November 4, 2023, to a select group.

Elon Musk announced on Friday that the startup xAI will release its first AI model on Saturday for a select group of individuals.

The unveiling of the first xAI model comes nearly a year after OpenAI captured the attention of businesses and users worldwide with ChatGPT, boosting the adoption of generative AI technology.

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015, but he left the company’s board of directors in 2018 for various reasons.

Musk, who has criticized the censorship of AI technology by major tech companies, earlier this year stated that his AI company would launch a search engine built on truth. He says that his company’s AI aims to leave Earth’s orbit to compete with Google’s chatbots and Microsoft’s Bing AI.

The xAI support team, which started its activities in July this year, previously worked at Google’s DeepMind unit, Microsoft’s parent company, and other leading AI research companies.

Reuters notes that even though the social network X and the startup xAI, both owned by Elon Musk, operate as separate companies, they have very close collaborations. xAI also collaborates with Tesla and other Musk-owned companies.

Larry Ellison, one of the co-founders of Oracle and a close friend of Musk, announced in September that xAI had signed a contract to train its AI models in Oracle’s cloud space.
